Alesk Festival - The Alsek Festival takes place on the green shores of the Dezadeash River under the majestic Front Ranges of the St. Elias Mountains. This stunning Yukon location, just outside world-renowned Kluane National Park, inspires musicians and audiences alike — and the almost-solstice timing of the event (the second weekend each June) means daylight for celebrating well into the night. A truly northern event, Alsek does not rely on big names from “Outside” to attract audiences. It draws instead on the ample talents of northerners to provide a wide variety of first-rate music. While the majority of performers tend to be from within Yukon, the festival also features acts from other northern locations — Northern BC, NWT and Alaska. And since the focus is original northern music in any genre, Alsek offers an incredible variety of musical styles, from folk to jazz, classical to country, bluegrass to rock-and-roll. As well as live music on three stages, the festival also offers craft sales, food booths, and a well-equipped KidZone for family entertainment. So whatever kind of fun you’re seeking — whether it’s a mellow music moment, a rollicking time with your kids, or some straight-ahead rock-and-roll dancing — the Alsek Music Festival has it! |
